Historical Fashion

I have long been fascinated with the gorgeous and often extravagant clothing people wore in the past. Usually I sketch the idea out first, and then translate it to pen & ink, intaglio, lithograph, or occasionally adding color in oil paint. I have actually created some clothing in fabric as wearable art.

These examples are in my favorite medium of pen & ink; it is a wonderful way to capture all of the details in each costume. This set is focused on Western European fashions from the early 1400's to the turn of the 20th century.

Please Note: All artwork will be printed on 8 1/2" x 11" matte photo paper and signed by the artist.
